Many Ways to Donate

Donations to the Juniata County Historical Society are the key to the services it provides. This all volunteer organization operates the Archives Room and Tuscarora Academy and cares for and maintains multiple properties including the recently restored Pomeroy-Academia Covered Bridge.

Monetary and Tribute Donations

Government funding supplies less than one-half of the annual budget. The remainder of monies comes from membership dues, research fees and donations.  The Society could not fulfill the mission to discover, preserve and publish Juniata County history without the continued generosity of private donors.

In addition, loyal members respond time and again when there have been specific funding needs. Donors may specify that their money goes

  • Pomeroy-Academia Covered Bridge
  • Tuscarora Academy
  • Operating Expenses
  • Where Most Needed.

Also, a tribute donation of $ 25 or more may be designated in memory of  or to honor an individual.

Donating Time

Without a faithful staff of volunteers, there would be no Juniata County Historical Society.  Countless hours are given to maintaining research materials in the Archives Room and assisting customers.

Volunteers serve in many capacities:

  • Plan special programs
  • Produce the quarterly newsletter
  • Act as docents at the Tuscarora Academy
  • Inventory and maintain collections and exhibits
  • Serve as board members
  • Advocate for funding
  • Maintain Society properties

Volunteer interests and schedules are accommodated. If you want to be a valued volunteer, please contact the Society.

Also, a variety of businesses and services are used to keep the Archives Room and properties operating. Donations of services in lieu of monetary donations are also greatly appreciated.
