Why it Matters
This milestone brings our community together around shared history—much like the 1976 Bicentennial that so many remember fondly. We want everyone to walk away proud of our county’s story, more informed about our roots, and feeling united.

IN SEARCH OF THE JUNIATAS
Historian Paul T. Fagley will give a historical presentation. He states: “We are blessed to live in a beautiful valley that is named for a group of American Indians that lived here in the early colonial period of the 1600s. Their name – Juniata – comes from the native language term “Onajutta-haga,” meaning “Standing Stone People.” However, like most all of the Native American groups in the interior of Pennsylvania at the time, they are poorly known, and never had any known contact with the early European explorers and traders. They had their village at present-day Huntingdon, where they had erected a tall stone monolith, which is surrounded by mystery and folklore. How long did they live here, and what native peoples are they related to? What can we understand about these people who left only their name on the valley? Using recent research into various sources and maps previously unavailable, the story of the Juniata people is emerging, but ever so slightly. In this program, we will go …In search of…the Juniatas.
3:30pm @ Presbyterian Church
PONY RIDES & CRITTER CORRAL
Promise Ranch Ministries will be providing Pony Rides and a Critter Corral for the kiddos!
3-6PM @ The Field

4PM @ Main Stage

Local resident Ethan Fowler will demonstrate Scottish Bagpipes, explain how they work, and play some great tunes sure to put a sparkle in the DNA of those with Scottish ancestry.
4:45pm @ Main Stage
HISTORICAL COSTUME CONTEST
Another fond memory people have of community milestone celebrations is historical costume contests. Come dressed from any pre-1970s decade and strut your stuff! Cash prizes will be awarded in four categories: Best Female, Best Male, Best Child, and Best Overall.
